Bentonite base Concrete Joint Expanding Waterstop
A flexible strip concrete construction joint waterstop that provides a positive seal by gradually expanding when in contact with water. SPARK BENTONITE WATERSTOP is an active bentonite based waterstop that is designed to replace conventional passive PVC dumbbell waterstop. The key to SPARK BENTONITE WATERSTOP’s effectiveness is its modified sodium bentonite content which provides superior expansion to seal and fill small voids.
Areas of application :
SPARK BENTONITE WATERSTOP applications include both vertical and horizontal concrete construction joints, new-to-existing construction, irregular surfaces and around through – wall penetrations such as plumbing and electrical conduit. It is designed for both hydrostatic and non-hydrostatic conditions. Typical applications include the following: Underground Structures, Tunnels, Box Culverts, Retaining Walls, New to Old Concrete, Manholes, Poured In-Situ Construction joints, Basements, Above and Below Grade Precast Panels and others.
SPARK BENTONITE WATERSTOP is not designed, nor intended to function as an expansion joint sealant. It is manufactured in light weight, flexible coils that can be installed in both hot and cold weather. Coil ends are butted together not overlapped to form a continuous seal. In most applications, the product is installed to the interior side of the outer row of steel reinforcement to allow for sufficient concrete coverage. It should only be used in applications where the product is completely encapsulated in the concrete. SPARK BENTONITE WATERSTOP is designed for structural concrete with a minimum compressive strength of 3,000 psi.

SPARK PVC WATERSTOP is manufactured from high grade polyvinyl chloride resins and high quality plasticizing agents. Being embedded in the concrete joints, act as a continuous watertight diaphragm to prevent seepage of liquids in construction joints which are subjected to high hydrostatic pressure. The centerbulb sections of the waterstop are specifically designed for use in joints which are either to take movement in expansion and contraction or to absorb a limited degree of deflection.
